Water, water, everywhere

February 2, 2009

I drink water.  Lots of water.  It’s good to keep well hydrated because it helps flush out toxins, increases metabolism, and it’s good for your skin and circulation (among other things)!  Wait, I totally remember doing a speech on this in tenth grade.  I did not like Mrs. Evard very much, and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t her fave either.  Oh darn.

Anyway.  I tend to drink water when I get bored or sleepy in class.  Which is a lot, but whatever it’s not a big deal.  But Mondays are my hell days.  I have four back to back classes, and it really sucks to have to power walk to your next class and have time to pee before lecture starts.  So drinking water is good for keeping me awake, but it really really sucks afterwards.  Or in the middle of class.  Or whatever.

I better get my bottle of water ready before I go back to reading!  I swear, all I do is read now.  Darn you textbooks!

By the way, Tele-bears sucks.  Hopefully Berkeley in the summer doesn’t.

I eat books

January 16, 2009

I have just started my fifteenth book of the year.  Yes, fifteenth.  And the saddest this is that I haven’t watched a single movie yet this year!  Anyway.  I’m back at Berkeley, I’m done unpacking, I’ve added more shit to my wall, and I have cleaned and organized to my satisfaction (for now).  So why not curl up in my bed and read another book?

This is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession by Daniel J. Levitin was pretty much thrown at me by Colin.  Literally.  Anyway, this book has managed to fascinate me within a few pages.

“Americans spend more money on music than on sex or prescription drugs.  Given this voracious consumption, I would say that most Americans qualify as expert music listeners.”

I’m not sure exactly why, but I found his rather amusing.

Say the word voracious out loud.

It makes me feel like eating.  A book.
